Asperger’s Syndrome
& Autism - Young Adult and Teen Social Group
This is an informal social group designed for those 13 to 25
years old. Meetings will be held on the third Sunday of the month from
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the home of John Healy, 6021 Western Avenue, Whittier,

San Gabriel Valley Parent
Support Group
Meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30
p.m. at Easter Seals of Southern California, 837 W. Christopher Street - Unit E,
West Covina, CA 91790. From the 10 freeway, exit Vincent. South on
Vincent to Christopher Street, turn right. There is plenty of parking in

May 13 - Sean Surfas, PhD will speak. He is Executive Director
T.O.T.A.L. Programs, which provides behavioral and developmental services for
the individual and their families. The goal of the TOTAL Programs is to
enable persons with disabilities to prepare for living and interaction in their
homes and communities. Throughout the TOTAL process, the emphasis is on
developing the skills necessary for independence in the natural home and
community settings. Through a partnership and collaboration with the individual
clients, families, care providers, and community members, TOTAL specialists
assist in the instruction for family members to understand how to change and
modify challenging behaviors, while at the same time also assisting the
individual with the disability to be more self-determining through positive
pro-social behaviors.
Long Beach/South Bay Parent Support Group
Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Emerson Parkside Academy Charter School Parent Center (Bungalow #35), 2625 Josie Avenue, Long Beach CA 90815. Located off the 405 freeway, exit Palo Verde and go north. Turn right on Willow; then left on Josie. Bungalows are located off Willow. Contact Joey Hayashi at (562) 982-9129 for further information.
May 20 - Ms. Amy Becker from Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services, which provides homework help for your special needs child, will speak. The Club Z! tutoring program is one-on-one instruction in the comfort and security of your home, free from distractions. Tutoring sessions may also be scheduled at schools, after school facilities, libraries, or community centers. Club Z! tutors are experienced, degreed professionals and/or state certified instructors with impeccable credentials and a heartfelt enthusiasm for teaching.
There is no childcare for this meeting.

May 28 - Shirley Oebel, Disability Specialist, Rio Hondo Chapter, American Red Cross, will speak about preparing for a disaster when a household member has autism.

AGUA (Adults Gathering, United and Autistic)

AGUA Classic
